Now more than ever, hospitals and elder care homes have safety at the top of their agenda. Planners and installers can help by offering SMART sanitary solutions that prevent contamination and fight legionella.
HANSA offers SMART faucets specifically designed for health and care facilities.
Your project customers in the health and care sector understand better than anyone the health risks that bacteria and viruses present – especially in their facilities. Hospitals are focused on mitigating hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and cross-contamination, and elder care homes are equally concerned with general hygiene and keeping their residents in good health.
Hand hygiene is a top priority in these facilities for good reason. Billions of microbes reside on our hands and certain areas of the hands are hard to clean. When hand washing is not done properly, 80% of microbes are transmitted from one person to another by direct or indirect contact.

Promote hygiene with touchless (SMART) faucets
A study published in the Canadian Journal of Microbiology in June 2013 shows that touchless faucets clearly promote hand hygiene compared to manual faucets. The study tested for the presence of microbes on two types of SMART faucets compared to manual faucets.

Significantly less microbial growth was found on the touchless faucets, indicating that removing the need to touch the faucet reduced the transmission of microbes. SMART faucets are also designed with fewer seams, minimising places for microbes to hide and making faucets easier to keep clean.
Prevent legionella with SMART faucets and automatic flushing
Touchless (SMART) faucets are possible to control via the HANSA Connect App, which not only makes monitoring and adjusting easier, it also adds a layer of protection against legionella. Legionella bacteria develops in stagnant water, and it can spread to the lungs through aerosol spray from faucets. HANSA Connect App features an automatic flushing option so you can schedule regular flushings and prevent water from lying stagnant in your faucet and pipes. Additionally, laminar water flow, a smooth fluid flow without aerator, can help prevent the spray and spread of legionella bacteria. The laminar flow is a standard feature in all HANSAMEDIPRO and HANSACLINICA faucets.
HANSAMEDIPRO can be controlled via an app and thanks to automatic flushing option and built-in laminar flow, the risk for legionella can be remarkably reduced.
HANSA SMART faucets offer advanced safety and hygiene
HANSA offers SMART faucets specifically designed for health and care facilities. Built with corrosion-resistant brass and laminar water flow, the HANSAMEDIPRO maintains water quality and prevents the spread of microbes. The HANSAMEDIPRO is available in standard and XL sizes, making it easier to wash forearms and elbows as well – ideal for operating rooms.
HANSACLINICA touchless thermostat can be controlled with HANSA Connect app.
A new wall-mounted SMART faucet is now also launched by Oras that not only prevents contamination, but also kills microbes using thermal disinfection. The HANSACLINICA touchless thermostat can be easily configured via the HANSA Connect app. It has three operational modes: manual, automatic and manual/automatic and a thermostatic cartridge that prevents scalding. The HANSACLINICA also has covered wall connections that are triple-sealed making them easier to keep clean. See how it works here.
